another watch problem

I had the same thought Susan did when I read Steve's post.

But- there is another problem with watches- be they digital or analog-
do you put in *fresh* batteries before you go out into the wilderness?
We're having a hard time finding batteries for a watch here (not
to mention an HP calculator). You can hardly find a windup watch
or self-winding watch anymore. Like they say around Christmas- Don't
forget the batteries (g).
