Back from Philmont

Johnette Sue Seibert (sseibert@TENET.EDU)
Mon, 31 Jul 1995 14:31:17 -0500

Just returned yesterday from Philmont Training Center. Tommy's Cub Scout
program faculty was the greatest. I took Roundtable Commissioner and
Ralph took Supplemental Training, and we really gained a lot of new and
useful things. However, the Training Center has gone down hill. The
staff in charge of the Cub Day Program was immature and never on time.
They were rude to the trainees who had children in the program, and the
food was certainly not up to standards of previous years.
But, Philmont being Philmont, the experience was still
great--getting to know so many new folks from around the country and the
world. We did have a tremendous turnout from Longhorn Council.
By the way for you Texans coming back, we found a very good Best
Western motel in Memphis, Texas, with a pool which the boys loved.
However, the attached restaurant was bad--but Dairy Queen was close at hand!
Anyway, it's good to be home. We get into the swing of things
council-wide with Kick-off on Wed. the 2nd and Roundtable on the 3rd!
Hope to have School Night on the 28th--will know more when the schools
open tomorrow--we go back to teaching August 10th--the kids come August
15th--can't wait-ha!
God bless all of you, hope to hear from some of you soon.
