Brings back memories of my youth..... all that fun in the outdoors all
summer long, then the next morning.. itch, itch, itch. That's one nice
thing about being here in the North.... no problems with chiggers and very
little with ticks ( a MUCH bigger health problem).
There's not much you can do with chigger bites.... use some topical itch
creams (they don't do much good), just TRY NOT TO SCCCCRRATTTCCCCHHHH them,
or they'll just itch even more and you might end up with an infection.
Wiping down with alcohol and a shower soon after exposure (and getting on
clean clothes) will help, but if you're camping in the middle of them...........
You're right... bug repellant doesn't work much, even full strength DEET.
Especially since they love to get around your belt, underwear seams, bend of
your knees, etc. where DEET doesn't often go.
Staying home?? not an option. Just tough it out. After the first few
exposures, they become more tolerable.
