1995 PowWow / Potlatch

Peter Van Houten (peter_van_houten@QM.WV.TEK.COM)

Dear friends in Scouting ... I realize it has been a long time since I've
made a contribution to this group, and for that I apologize. I have been
consumed with work, scouts, family, and whatever for the past few
months.

At this writing I am eye-deep in PowWow Potlatch for Cascade Pacific
Council, Portland, OR. I am the Event Chairman. We have historically
produced a very high quality program, with a large resource book, colorful patch
es and a nice mug. I hope to continue that tradition.

The theme this year is 'Giving Flight to Eagles'. The patch / totem is a
totem pole starting From bottom to top (Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Boy
Scouts, Eagle) Above Eagle is a space in which the theme is embedded,
and has Eagle wings behind it. On top is a nest with three eggs, each
representing the areas of Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. The
idea is that 'Giving Flight to Eagles' doesn't just start with a boy at
Tenderfoot, but rather at Tiger Cubs, or at that point when a boy joins
Scouting, whether it be Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, or Boy Scouts.

I have a request in two parts:

Part one: To anyone who has direct experience with a company that has
created patches for an event. Would you please E-Mail (privately) me
the Company name, address, phone number and an impression of your
experience. Thank you in advance.

Part two: The resource book is divided into two sections, one for Cub
Scouts, the other for Boy Scouts. The question I have is, (and anyone is
open to respond to this question) as a leader what aspects of a PowWow
book are the most useful and beneficial to you and to your Pack / Troop.
Also, what were the least useful and could have been left out.

Again, please respond privately so as not to take up space on the groups
server. If anyone else is interested in a compliation of the results I'd be
happy to share it with you!

In Scouting . . .
