Basic Leadership Curriculum Redesign

Morgan, Christine A 7901 M (CMORGAN@FACILPO.MSSMTP.SANDIA.GOV)
Tue, 11 Jul 1995 11:02:00 PDT

Girl Scouts of Chaparral Council is starting a curriculum redesign primarily
for our basic leadership classes. (I expect outdoor and other trainings
will follow, if we are successful in our efforts on basic leadership.) As a
Master Trainer and chair of the committee, I would be interested in knowing
how other Girl Scout councils and Girl Guide groups structure their basic
leadership offerings. An outline describing the topics covered and duration
of each of your basic leadership classes would be most helpful. We do have
the GSUSA leadership modules, but recognize that many other approaches are
being used. We're hoping to get a jump start and avoid reinventing the
wheel.

I have also completed BSA Scoutmaster Fundamentals in the Great Southwest
Council and several training sessions for Cub Scout leaders. IMHO, I see
strengths AND weaknesses in the more standardized approach to training used
in BSA. If your council uses an approach to basic leadership training that
is significantly different from the standard BSA approach, I'd appreciate
info on that as well.

Please reply directly to me, Chris Morgan, cmorgan@sandia.gov. Many TIA.
