I have couple of things our troop uses. First of all, we require whoever
is picking the girl up must come in to get her. We do not release our
girls unless one of the leaders visually identifies the person picking
her up. By requiring them to come in, we can talk to the parents (or who
ever picks her up) about the meeting, future plans, ask for help for an
upcoming event, etc.
The other thing we do is this. At the beginning of the year at our first
parents' meeting, we have them fill out a form listing their talents and
interests as well as where they are willing to help out. We make it very
clear that every parent is highly encouraged to help in some way during
the year. We don't require it per say but almost. This way the parents
know right off the bat, what their responsibilities are and that we are
not babysitters.
Hope this helps.
