Michele,

Many drug and toy stores have red plastic fireman's helmuts for a couple
of dollars. They make great one time roundtable staff hats for such a
theme and lend themselves to cheerleading as well.

Try writing a story about a Scout seeing a fire and calling 911 etc. Use
key words repeatedly. Divide up the audience and assign a sound for these
words. You could easily have the group making fire crackling sounds, "Oh
mys", phone rings, fire engine sounds, water sounds, hissing, etc.

Try getting smokey the bear stuff from the Forest Service in your area for
door prizes or instant recognition for good responses or ideas.

Try a participant oriented demonstration of Stop - Drop - and Roll.

Many of the Boy Scouts in your area are probably working on Safety Merit
Badge, including some Den Chiefs. Check around and see if you can get
them to put together a skit on exiting a burning building (related to one
of their requirements).

For a ceremony, consider reading a Boy's Life hero story and doing a
mock-up of a Medal of Merit Presentation.
