The Appalachian trail is about 400+ miles long starting
in (Georgia?) and ending in Maine.
There are entire books on the trail and can be
purchased in places like Eastern Mountain Sports, LL Bean,
I would imaging REI or a good LARGE bookstore under travel.
The Appalachian Mountin Club (AMC) maintains the trails
with the help of hikers and you can get info for them.
I do not have that info here but can get it if you need.
(I assume someone on the net has this info at their finger tips)
