Re: Age Limits

My understanding is that the requirement is at least in large part to make
it more likely that the scout has the physical and emotional maturity
necessary for the things they will be doing. While age is not always the
best way to determine this, it is about the only thing that can be applied
to a large group (as with driving age, drinking age, voting age, etc).
I've seen times when people "circumvented" these rules, but more often than
not there were problems with maturity, etc., during the event.

It's unfortunate that your kids will on occasion be left behind their
peers, but it will happen with all those other things I mentioned above
(and a number of other things as well). It may not be completely fair, but
it would be hard to find a way to do it more equitably.
