->recieve one at the pack meeting. Does the tiger understand " the
->concerns that have been expressed on the discussion list that it is
->better for him to wait to recieve this award" . No he does not
->understand. And this is the REAL ISSUE- does he percieve that it is
->fair. No he does not. I am not a paid professional, I as many of you are
->involved in scouting because we care and we want to encourage these boys
->to continue the scouting trail. Each leader must decide how to handle
->this issue in their packs. Some will decide not to give belt loops while
->others will decide to give belt loops. I myself choose to give belt
->loops and see those smiling faces of excited tigers.
So let give Webelos merit badges and give Bear and Wolves Webelos
activity pins just because it meet the emotional understanding
of the boy. Why not just give the Tiger Cubs the merit badges
too.. Why not just past them up the line and make them Eagle
scouts. Just think of the amount of time it would save. One
might say that not the PROGRAM !! Not everything we do as
leaders is going to meet the emotional happiness of all boys.
Being a leader is do what a program or the rule book tell us to
do. If not we are what BSA means Baby Sitters of America.
