I have just come back from our Service Unit's Thinking Day Festival, chaired
by a Senior Scout for her Rose Award. We had over 200 girls representing
France, Ireland, Greece, Phillipines, Germany, Egypt, India, Sweden, Costa
Rica, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Guatemala, Republic of China.
We started with a welcome from the chair, a flag ceremony, and an explanation
of Thinking Day, the WAGGGS, and Juliette Low Friendship Fund. Then there
was a collection for the fund of 1 nickel for each year of age (both girls
and leaders). Then each troop made a presentation of dance, song, or
recitation. Then there was a swap and tasting of various foods. Our country
was France and we asked everyone to sign the table cloth that we will send to
the troops from France that sent us letters.
We finished up with singing Our Chalet and Its A Small World. A closing flag
ceremony and friendship circle with sung Taps. There was a printed program
and a patch for all participants.
It is a small world.
