Campfire went belly up here, their camp grounds have been given (sold?) to
a local nature center. It is not an option for our children. 4H is going
strong, but I wouldn't consider that a scout program. My oldest daughter
is involved with 4H but she is not learning leadership from their program.
What she is getting though she can't get in scouts...a working knowledge
about horses. She is learning the lingo, about their care, about showing,
about judging, and riding. She is learning the leadership in Girl Scouts.
Yes 4H is co-ed, but they don't camp, they don't explore different worlds,
they don't do service projects (at least my daughter's group doesn't). 4H
has one goal, to teach the kids skills they need for an agriculture career.
Remeber 4H is a Cooperative extension organization.

But then there is always Explorers right ? ;)
