Announcing!! World Guiding & Scouting Resources (the WOGUSR)

Tuomas M. Toivonen (toivotuo@CLINET.FI)

Announcing and introducing the project WOGURS...

The Scouts of Finland is starting a project to create a 'complete' guide
of Guiding and Scouting Resources on the Internet. The guide will be
published in the World Wide Web and possibly also as a 'paper publica-
tion' - on ASCII and Postscripts formats to be distributed on the net-
work news.

The project is just beginning and the Guide is not yet available on the
World Wide Web even though some material of the project itself can be
found at <http://www.clinet.fi/~toivotuo/wogusr/>. Plans are that the
pages should be quite stable before the summer '95. They will, however,
be made public before that for all you brave 'beta testers'. No schedule
is set for the the World Jamboree '95 in August so that printed copies
of the Guide could be distributed on the camp site to spread knowledge
of the possibilities of

What we require now from you, fellow Netizens and Cyber Scouts, is all
those URLs you happen to recall. So if you know a fancy site with stuff
that could be of interest to guides and/or scouts, please let us know.
Also if You maintain a site, let us know. All kinds of sites and re-
sources will be included in the Guide: WWW, FTP, Gopher, WAIS, mailing
lists, newsgroups, public access computers (Free-Nets) with scouting in-
formation, the ScoutNet... whatever!

When sending an URL it would be nice if you included a little descrip-
tion of the site. We will (hopefully) check through all the sites before
indexing them and including them in the Guide, but surely we have no
time to read them all through. Therefore any help in this field is
gratefully accepted. We will create a page for incoming URLs so if you
have some spare time select one and after checking it through send a
little introduction of it. The address of that page is
<http://www.clinet.fi/~toivotuo/url.html>.

Submit your URLs to <toivotuo@clinet.fi>.

You can also send your email address so that you will be notified per-
sonally of the advancement of the project ie. the release of the pages
in the World Wide Web and the exact address of the pages (you can always
check the progress of the project from
<http://www.clinet.fi/~toivotuo/wogusr/progress.html>). Send your ad-
dress to <toivotuo@clinet.fi> and in the message "Subject:" write "WO-
GUSR Notification".

Thanks for your time.

We hope that after we get this project running scouting in the cy-
berspace of the Internet will be easier for all of us.

Yours in Scouting,
