}Replying to Nancy Smith's question about when to award the Arrow of Light.

}Nancy, as a Cubmaster too, I always try to give the awards to the boys as
}soon as they have earned them. If this means I have to do the ceremonies
}two months in a row then I do it.

Mike, I couldn't agree more. Last fall, we did an advancement ceremony
just before crossing all the boys up to the next age level. As part of
the cross over, we crossed the Tiger's into the pack. We now had a
brand new Wolf den and three of the boys had earned their Bobcat. So,
we had an advancement ceremony for their Bobcat.

If you do the ceremony early, it probably won't be as elaberate as for
the whole group. Our pack did a ceremony for each rank. If we did an
Arrow of light early, it would have been like other ranks except
mentioning the special signifigance of the AOL.

BTW, our boys had started as Tigers together. Both dens decided they
wanted to finish together. So, they delibertly saved one requirement
to finish at the same time. But, that's what the boys wanted.

}[...] and will award the AOL when he earns it and arrange a crossing
}over ceremony in September when he reaches 10.5.

I think the accidemic pins were under used in our pack. This Cub
sounds like he might really enjoy working on some of the accidemic and
athletic pins while he is wait for 10.5. If he just waits, you will
probably loose him.
