37th Jamboree On The Air (JOTA)

R. MIDDELKOOP 439/3H07/3-5 (Middelkoop@FEL.TNO.NL)
Mon, 22 Aug 1994 10:07:24 MET-DST

Peter van Houten in his message two days ago asked for JOTA
information. Since this could be of interest to more of the SCOUTS-L
readers, forgive me for posting a general answer to the entire list.

The Jamboree On The Air is currently the largest WOSM activity with
over 500,000 Scouts and Guides participating. Of those, an estimated
100,000 come from the USA alone. So you won't feel alone out there on
the radio waves.
The 37th edition of the JOTA is scheduled for 15 and 16 October this
year.

Each Scout Association has a National JOTA Organiser (NJO), someone at
national level who co-ordinates the activities in his country,
provides the information to participating troops and sends an activity
report back to me after the event. For the USA the NJO is
Mr. Dan Dansby
International Division
BSA National Office
Dan will be able to provide information about the JOTA organisation
specifically in the US.

General info on the JOTA can be found in the World Bureau's JOTA
circulars. I have uploaded the two most recent ones in an abreviated
version to the SCOUTS-L archives. To retrieve them send these commands
to the listSERVER:
GET JOTA 1CIRC94 SCOUTS-L
GET JOTA 2CIRC94 SCOUTS-L

Hope this helps.
