(Mark asked for information to be resent about Arrow-L. I sent this
to him personally, but I wanted to post it here again. One of the
suggestions (and I'll get to that in a future posting!) from the NOAC
Scouts-l/Internet Lodge meeting was that we needed to provide a
"Frequently Asked Questions" posting about once a month to give out
general information like this....Jon and I do a great job of providing
LISTSERV information and information on how to access the list; but as
online Scouting gets even more popular, this information should be
provided more often. I'll see what I can do to help here. In the
meantime, here's Jack Thornton's posting once more: )

"J. Thornton" <jthorn@PRISM.NMT.EDU writes:

This is the official announcement that ARROW-L has started up. ARROW-L is
a listserv group that is to be devoted to discussing the Order of the Arrow
and matters of cencern to its membership. As such, membership is being
limited to members of the OA. If you are an OA member abd wish to join,
send a request to:

LISTSERV@INDYCMS.BITNET

with the request:

SUBSCRIBE ARROW-L e-mail@where.you.are Name

Shortly after that, you will recieve a questionnaire asking for some
information from you. Within a couple of days after you return the
questionnaire, you will be added to the list.

(short personal note here from Mike Walton: the questions are NOT
that hard right now; expect as Jack updates the questionaire, that
more "pertinent" information *that only Arrowmen would know* would
be asked...fair warning!)

I have approximately 35-40 people who have asked for questionnaires
previously. I will send(resend) a questionnaire to those people very
soon. If after a day or so you have not recieved a questionnaire (and you
had asked for one earlier) subscribe like above and one will find its way
to you.

Many thanks go to Nathan Brindle for getting the list set up and for
volunteering to do the work necessary to keep it working smoothly.

If you have any questions (about the OA or about ARROW-L) feel free to
e-mail me at:

jthorn@nmt.edu

I'll answer your question(s) as best as I can or refer you to somebody who can
give you a better answer.

So far, the Arrow-L list has answered questions on the usefulness of
Clans within a Lodge, the emphasis and impact of the Supreme Chief
of the Fire (the Council Scout Executive), information about the
National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) and general information
about what other Lodges are doing in program and membership support.

The list is NOT designed to REPLACE Scouts-L, and many of the members
of Arrow-L are ALSO members here. The ONLY reason why we decided to
have a separate list for OA members and leaders, is because many of
those topics cannot be discussed here on Scouts-L without compromising
elements of the Ordeal or Brotherhood ceremony done for the Scouts and
Scouters elected to the Order.

Thanks for asking, Mark!
