Advice on changing troops.

Let him go.

I was in a large troop when I made Eagle at 16. Afterwards, I switched to
a small troop that did not have a scout over the rank of Star. (There, I
met Greg, who is now my best friend.)

For me, it was as though Scouting started all over again, only from a
different perspective. That may have been a major reason for staying
involved in Scouting to this day.

Yes, you'll miss him, and the troop will miss him. But I think it will do
him the most good.
