Re: 50 Miler Award

Glad to see that T304 is still doing whatever it takes to hang
on to the Kamehameha District "Tired Boot Award." I think we only
seriously competed for that one the year we in Troop 180 did our 50-
miler from Haleakela summit to Hana (1991), after completing Hiking
Merit badge. For the record, I was a Cubmaster in Pack 180 and an
Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 180 from 1987 to 1991 while on CINCPAC
staff.

You are absolutely correct about the cost of living... I came back to
retire in Texas and go to graduate school. When I get a chance, I
will send you a longer note (direct to you) about hiking Haleakela,
and the 50- miler course my WoodBadge Patrol (Beavers-1989) attempted
to lay out down the Koolau summit trail on Oahu (our report should be
on file at Aloha Council, with extensive documentation, maps, photos,
etc... it was a Patrol ticket item).

BTW, can you get me the name and address for the current Cubmaster of
180... or somebody in Troop 180 who would know it? Thanks in
advance.

YiS, Chris
