Re: Beaded OA Sash

A comment on the beaded (etc.) sash topic:
At our ordeal this past weekend a number of "legends" were on sale at the
OA shop for the first time that I can remember and they went like hotcakes.
There were also several members there with beaded sashes and fringed sashes.
Every now and then I get tempted to pick up one of these decorated items.
In fact, the first "legend" I saw was worn by my Brotherhood coach several
years ago and I was very impressed. Then that nagging little voice in the
back of my head reminds me that National says "No." Now I know that National
can come up with some real doozies, and I don't always agree with official
policy on major issues, let alone relatively minor ones, but... A Scout is
obedient. How can I hold an inspection and dock a Scout for a misplaced
badge, or seven merit badges on his sleeve, or too many Quality Unit Awards, or
some other infraction when I'm standing there wearing a beaded sash with a
legend on the back and a hatful of pins (also illegal)? I have trouble with
"This rule we have to keep, but this one is ok to ignore." Anybody have a good
rationalization? I really would like to get one of those things.
