As far as I know the segments outlined in "My Scout Badge" and in the
other BSA liturature still has the skill awards as part of the requirements.
So they are outdated. BSA was revising the program. There was a discussion on
this a few months back. But I don't know what the outcome was?
As far as suggestions, It sounds like you have some good support for
him, I feel he will be a great asset to your troop. I work with a special needs
troop and have boys ranging from mild to severe haddicaps (mental, emotional).
Keep him in the troop and give him lots of support. My troop trys to use the
regular program and does not use the special segments. BSA replaced the skill
awards with a lether belt thing that you can place beads on as they pass off
the individual requirements for the first two ranks. You can use this as a
instant recognition for him.

Everyone;
Does anyone else know what the statis of the BSA revisions for special
need scouts are? What are some other suggestions for working with these fine
Scouts?
