Re: Advancement for Scouters

As I was following the other thread on the award for ASM's similar questions
came to my mind. I feel alot of scouters are not fully arware of the awards out
their. I know that this list has the requirements for the Cub and Boy Scout
awards, but is their a list somewhere of the requirements for the knots?

In my Scoutmaster Handbook their are 29 knots pictured. I would be interested
in seeing a list of:
When are they earned? (some represent youth awards)
Which program they are earned under?
(Cub, Scout, Varsity, Explorer, district or council level)
How are they initiated? (some are by nomination from others)
Who can make the nomination?
Other information about the awards. (history etc...)

I am familiar with some of the knots, but am not sure if the information I have
on them is current. Other knots, such as the Silver World Award I have heard of
and that is it.

I am also interested in which knots, adult awards are offered by other
countries. (I know there are a lot of Scouters out their who are not from the
USA.)

Is anyone else interested in this? I would be glad to help compile a list if
others are interested.

My book lists the following:
Arrow of Light Award, Award of Merit, Cub Scouter Award, Cubmaster Award,
Den Leader Award, Den Leader Coach Award, Distinguished Commisioner Service,
Eagle Award, Explorer Achievement Award, George Meany Award, Heroism Award,
Honor Medal, Medal of Merit, Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award,
Professional Training Award, Quartermaster Award, Religious Emblem (2 knots),
Scouter Key, Scouter's Training Award, Scoutmaster Award of Merit, Sea Badge,
Silver Antelope Award, Silver Beaver Award, Silver Buffalo Award, Silver World,
Spurgeon Award, Webelos Den Leader Award, Whitney M. Young, Jr, Award.

Are their any others?
How about other awards that scouters can earn?

Thank You;
Your Brother in Scouting;
Andrew J. Heath (Heatha@Yvax.byu.edu)
