George, I still encourage boys and their parents to get Boy's Life,
especially my Explorers since they do include the Explorer suppliment in BL.

I have been disappointed with BL though in theor not keeping up with
technology and not presenting it to the boys.

Back in 1986 I added Scouting message bases and files to a BBS that had been
running since 1984, and in 1989 I wrote an article for BL about Scouting
communications electronically. When it was submitted to their Editor, he
played with it for about 4 months and finally chopped it down to a single
paragraph for Hobby How's.

Since then there has been very few stories about electronic communications,
Email, BBSs, and other methods for Scouts to communicate. There are many
resources, including the nearly 250 Scout oriented BBS systems around the
world, Scouts-l, rec.scouting, CompuServe, Prodigy, AOL, etc... and they do
very little to encourage their use.

Anyway, I think BL is still a good resource for the boys and I my daughter
has enjoyed the GSUSA publications when they were available.
