Re: Troop Dues (plus some bio info)

Troop 226, Sacramento, California, charges $52/year registration per boy
based on a Oct 1-Sept 30 year. Boys joining during the year are pro-rated.
Registration includes BSA registration fees, Boy's Life, insurance, a
Scout Handbook, troop neckerchief, and scout slide. A minimum of $20 is
collected with the initial application, to insure recovery of costs in case
the boy drops out. Remaining funds are used to pay for advancement,
subsidize summer camp, etc. We have also recently established a $2 per
month dues system, the boy is encouraged to earn the money himself, to help
build up/replace the troop's equipment. $7 is charged for each campout to
cover the cost of the food only (4 meals). Adult drivers donate their time
and auto operating expenses. We have minor fundraisers, but they do not
add significantly to the treasury (maximum $500 per year). Our current
registration is 17 boys (but starting to grow!).

Adults are encouraged (but not necessarily required) to register at $7 per year.
