Re: alcohol,yet again

Let me jump in on the beerwagon wiht my 2 cents (or sense as the
case my be) worth. One area I've not seen discussed is how the parents who
have entrusted the safety and well being of their children to we leaders
would feel if they thought their little darlings were in the care of
one or more adults who have imbibed in 'demon rum"? If I found out
my son's troop leaders were drinking while he was in their care I would
be totally livid.
I think most parents assume that when their child is in the care
of another adult, that adult will make every attempt to be as clear
headed as possible in order to respond quickly and responsibly to
any emergency (small or large) that might come up. Even one drink
after the little kiddies are tucked in their tents could make a leader
suspect in the eyes of a parent, and do we need that? What if those
clever little devils found your "stash' ? How would you explain
that to a concerned parent?
Sure, I know these kids can sometimes drive you nuts---but
there are better ways to deal with stress. My personal opinion is
that if you're at a scouting event or in a scout uniform alcohol
has no place in the vicinity.
