Hi Everyone:

I would like to thank all of you who responded, both privately
and to the list, to the question on the availability and/or use
of alcohol at Scouting functions.

My intent was to see what rules or attitudes were used to govern
the use of alcohol by other groups/areas/countries with its ADULT
members, at training courses or other activities. I think it would
go without question that it not be used when the youth are present,
particularly at camp. The serving of a glass or two of wine at a
dinner or banquet at the end of a training session would not, IMHO,
be out of place. But, I do not want to rekindle the debate.

Thanks again for your comments. I have saved the responses and I
plan to discuss them with members of our regional staff at our
next meeting.

As an aside, I saved the discussion on RESPECT that was held a few
weeks ago, and gave a copy to a friend who is preparing a session on
working with youth for a training session in a few weeks. She thought
that the discussion was very useful and will incorperate it into her
presentation.
