HATS ON

Fellow Scouters:

I'd just like to caution you about the hat issue. There are
some faiths or ethnic groups (Sikhs, Quakers come to mind) where
removal of hats can be seen as disrespectful or un-mindful of
one's religious duties or traditions. I have had to speak to
many Scout leaders over the years, asking that they not give my
____
son and me a hard time when we observe our religious traditions
in this respect. Encouraging the removal of hats is one thing.
Mandating it is something else.
