Sea Exploring and Sea Scouting are slightly different in one IMPORTANT
respect - in most countries you can join Scouting as a Sea Scout at the age
of 10 or 11. You can't do that in the BSA. As I noted nefore, I would like to
see the BSA have Sea SCOUTS in addition to Sea Explorers.
I was a Sea Scout from the age of 11, and I enjoyed the programme far more
than I would have enjoyed Land Scouts. We got to do all the things the
Landies did, but we also had some fantastic sea-going and water-based
activities.
