Arctic Jamboree Survey

NORTHERN (ARCTIC) SCOUT JAMBOREE SURVEY

A group of Scouts in Northern (Arctic) Canada are
considering staging major summer events in 1995 and/or
1996. We would like to build a jamboree that would
attract national and international attendance, with a
program that makes it worthwhile to take the time,
trouble and money to get to the top of the world.

Several site areas are under consideration. The site will
be "staged" or supplied through Yellowknife, the capital
of Canada's Northwest Territories. The water here still
runs clear, and the flora and fauna is unequaled. (We'll
camp near migration paths -- but not on them, so the
herds of free roaming animals like caribou and bison
won't get in our way too much.)

We are looking at an 8 to 10 day camp. The base camp will
be in the Great Slave Lake area (63N/114W), with
excursions ranging farther north. We're aiming for late
July, when the weather is shirtsleeves during the day and
light jackets at night. As an arid zone, there is no
chance of rain during this period (unlike CJ93)!

If you are looking for a jamboree where you can use your
cellular phone to have pizza delivered to your tent, this
isn't it. If you are interested in giving your input to
a northern, wilderness experience, sure to be unique,
please complete this survey, and e-mail it back.
