Mike, I can think of several ways, using different kinds of tinder:

Punk - a piece of charred cotton clothes line cord.
Dryer lint - keep in a wterproof container prior to use.
Mouse nests - make sure the mouse has been evicted :)
"monkey hair" - shredded paletto flowers (?) - dried spanish moss works
fairly well also. Dry palmetto fronds will also go up like soaked in
gasoline.
