Re: A little little boy

I think I was born in uniform. Dad was a SM, mom a Den MOTHER for several
years before I became their first child. I frequently visited camporees,
scout events, pack meetings, etc. before I was officially registered.
However, with ONE exception, I was not allowed to be a true participant in
the event. The exception was my fifth birthday when I went camping with
Dad's troop. We went out Friday night and stayed in one of the cabins at
the council camp. Saturday morning, Mom picked me up while the troop stayed
the rest of the weekend. I think that Friday night is the most vivid memory
I have of my pre scouting days!

I remember attending, from time to time before I was a Scout, courts of honor
(at troop, district, and council level). I, and all other boys under scout
age, were escorted from the room for the opening ceremony. It did at a bit of
mystery. Perhaps that is why I have been involved in Scouting so long. I
didn't get it all before I got in.

BTW, our troop has a family camp once a year where the whole family camps with
us. It's a great outing.
