If you'd rather not deal with 40-80 individual messages per day, use the
DIGEST option. Once a day, in the wee small hours of the Texas morning, the
list server will send you a single large file that contains all of the
postings for the previous day (or since the last digest, if it's been more
than a day). This won't do much to reduce the volume of data that you receive,
but it will significantly reduce the number of messages in your mailbox (a
major issue on some systems). If, like me, you tend to stop what you're doing
and open your mail whenever a new message arrives, you may also realize a
significant improvement in productivity. <g> And, since the messages will be
altogether, in one place, in proper order, you may also find it easier to
follow the various threads. To use the DIGEST option, send a mail message to:

listserv@tcubvm.is.tcu.edu

with the following line as the only line in the body of the message:

set scouts-l digest

Please note: Your message MUST be addressed to LISTSERV, not SCOUTS-L!

I believe that the address shown above is in "standard" Internet format,
however, some systems use different addressing schemes, so you should verify
that this format is valid for your system. pdr
