ADHD Dosages

While we are on the topic of dosages, and yes, they are VERY
individual specific in their effects, here is what my sons take:
9 yrs old - 10 mg 3 times a day
12 yrs old - 20 mg sustained release twice a day (standard meds were
less effective, with sharper peaks and valleys of mood)
15 yrs old - 20 mg 3 times a day
Our various pediatricians cite these as typical, and they have always
tried to keep them at the low end where possible.
They take them every day, 365 days a year. Otherwise the parents
would have to run away from home. The 15 yr old convinced himself
several months ago that he was more "personable" and would get along
better with his peers if he went off medication. He (we) lasted two
weeks before his inability to concentrate frustrated him so much in
his studies that HE decided to resume medication. His grades that
term reflected the experiment noticeably.
Note: they get the "H" in ADHD honestly, from me. At 45 I still
drink coffee ALL DAY, although that could be the 20 years of Army
service talking.
