We had our Blue and Gold banquet Saturday. We had an Arrow of Light
and a cross over to Boy Scouts ceremony. One was a variation of a
ceremony that was posted here and the other was a variation of one that
was posted in the Scouter echo. I've submitted the cross over ceremony
to the electronic Pow Wow book, so I won't post them here unless
someone wants to see them.
We had four leaders retire (or semi-retired) when the boys crossed
over. Since I had worked with them since Tiger Cubs, I volunteered to
make placks for them. Plan A didn't turn out the way I would have
liked for 3 of the 4 leaders. So, on Thursday, I started on Plan B.
It turned out quite nice. I used a color overhead transparancy between
a piece of plastic and a board.
I took some of the Scout clip art I have. One of the programs I have
will convert bit maps into a drawn figures, so I could blow it up with
out it getting chuncky. It's was also easier to colorize. I have
access to a couple color printers at work, but some of the copy centers
have them also. I used a thermal wax printer because it gives nice
vivid colors. I then cut the plastic, wood backing and transparancy to
the same size. I fastened them together with a wood screw in each
corner.
For the forth leader I went with my original idea. I've worked as his
asst. Den Leader for the past four years. We have made a lot of
projects out of cedar. (He owns a fence and deck company.) He has been
our Space Derby and Pinewood Derby chairman for the past two years also.
So, his thankyou "plack" was a cedarwood derby car.
