B&G and table activities

Last year and this year we've dealt with the length and interest part of the
Blue & Gold by moving FOS to January's pack meeting. A second success we've
had has to do with table activities to keep active hands busy after the
meal. When the theme was Knights of the Roundtable, I got bunches of boxes
of sugarcubes donated and each table or fraction thereof had the challenge
to make castles using the sugarcubes. A small committee went around toward
the end and without any certificates called the group's attention to each
castle, highlighting something special about it. For the Pirate theme, we
used black paper, miniature marshmallows and toothpicks and the cubs and
siblings could make pirate ships, or flags, or whatever they wished. This
year's theme is Wild West and the table activity will be making campfires,
using stick pretzels and other little edibles.

Peter, your ceremony sounds great. I'm going to print it out for our
committee to look at. B&G is on Sunday, so the ideas are too late for us
this year.
