About once a year I will pass out latex sureons gloves to round table attendees
and also to the troop when first aid is being taught. These are freebes that
can be obtained from hospitals, doctors, etc. They don't last long and should
be replaced if not used and of course properly discarded when used. They are
now taught as being the first item used in a first aid kit when dealing with
body fluids. We also have a physcian explain the hazards and myths of dealing
with body fluids during first aid courses and CPR training. As boys get older
(read that to mean "potentially sexually active") they are also informed of
condom use...at least in the cases I'm aware of. There is no sense in bring
condom use up to an 8 year old unless he or she is sexually active, which I
think would be very rare. I hope we are on the right track.
