Good question. The local Klondike Derby was postponed this past weekend
"due to bad weather" (much like you saw in Indy). Two troops found a
local park (sheltered valley) and camped. Made the news big-time. We
used a former scout reservation (Horine) situated on a 'knob' (hilltop)
just south of Louisville. Naturally we camped on the northern edge overlooking
the city lights shimmeering in the -35 +/- wind chill. On the clear night.
As Cubmaster, future Asst Scoutmaster, I couldn't pass the opportunity to
pitch my dome tent inside my cabin tent!
Anyway, at least 3 troops earned bragging rights! A couple new Asst
Scoutmasters are well on their way to catching the Scoutmaster and I
on COLD WEATHER camping... (They skipped last year's -35 campout)

Subj: BSA GUIDELINES COLD WEATHER
A thought just occurred to me....What is the national guideline on canceling a
winter outing or camporee with regards to wind chill and temperature? I know
that the US Army had a guidline; Does the BSA? Does anyone recall ever seeing
this? What is the Army figure (Hello Mike, are you there?)
