I have always liked the title SENIOR FACILITATOR ! (nice sound, but ?)
Or maybe in this case, Senior SCOUTING Facilitator.
To me that is a KEY job of ADULT scouters ( I also like the
term SCOUTER to be a generic term for ADULTS in scouting,
and I have heard SCOUTER used for YEARS in SCOUTS Canada)
Or even SENIOR SCOUTING GUIDE ? As in the current YOUTH
position of TROOP Guide, the Adult SCOUTER in charge (called
the scoutmaster today), with the help of the troop committee
tries to GUIDE the TROOP in a common direction and acts as
the facilitator to assist the YOUTH LEADERS etc.
There are probably at least a dozen terms that could replace
the title of SCOUT Master. But as I also pointed out, I am
not that concerned about the TITLE! It is the JOB description
that is important, and Steve Meyers did a very nice job of
highlighting the fact that SCOUT TROOP are by definition, YOUTH
organizations. If we have TOO many SCOUT leaders as adults,
the Youth never get the oportunity to lead an develop, etc.
