Intro and Sea scout info

Sea Exploring Ship (SES) 5095, Honolulu, Hawaii. USA
I am one of those subscribers that reads all your Email and does not
have any time left to write. But since so many have contributed and
given me so much info, here is some info on SES 5095 and myself
- As the skipper of a SES I help the explorers accomplish their goals
and some of my goals. We number about 10 explorers and 4 adults leaders,
(we are trying to grow to about 20 explorers) and meet on the four masted
sailing ship "Falls of Clyde", the Falls of Clyde is a museum ship and
will not ever sail again (At least not with me on it). We meet weekly at
7 pm for two hours, and try to sail or do some activity at least two
times a month on the weekends, this month we are doing something every
weekend. we had a overnight sail, are having two new member sails, an
environmental project in a local harbors and a community project. Its
busy and my wife say one more month like this, and I can sleep on the
boats. (ha ha I hope).
- We have five sail boats, (2) 20 foot cal's, (1) 22 foot columbia and 2
small lazer type sail boats. The private yacht clubs and the state
marina keep our boats at slips and we help them with events through the
year.
on the person side
I have been skipper of SES5095 for eight months, and have been in Hawaii
for ten months, I am a US Naval Officer, with 21 years of service, (ten
of which was as a enlisted sailor). My last duty station was on the east
coast of the US where my Daughter got involved in Sea Exploring and from
that I was asked to help out with the program and over the next two years
time I became the Skipper of the ship, Then the "needs of the Navy" got
in the way of my sailing and boating and I was sent here.
- As a youth I was involved for 10 years with 4-H (my parents were
involved for over 20 years) . 4-H is a youth program mainly in the
farming communities much like exploring only our goal was food
production, clothing and raising animals.
- I have always wanted to give back what I received, I am able to do
that now and I am having a lot of fun.. My father once told all his
sons (seven of us) that he did not care if we served in the military or
not, but we have a great deed of thanks to give to our country, and in
some way we should pay the debt. My hope is that I can pass on that idea
to my children and to the explorers that pass by me.
