Hello,

I subscribed to this list about a week ago.

My name is Cliff Golden. I've been an adult leader in Scouting about 25
years. I've worked as Scoutmaster of Troop 33 in DeKalb, Illinois for
the past 20 years.

In Exploring, I was a youth member, have worked with another Post as
Committee Chairman for 10 years, and have been Advisor of Post 333,
DeKalb, Illinois for the past 9 years.

We are a high adventure post with 20 young men currently on the roster.
The post along with the Venture crews from my troop both make up the
membership of our high adventure programs. We have 4 super trips planned
for 1997. They will include;

a trip to West Virginia (rafting/climbing/caving/mountain biking)
a trip to Washington D.C. (sightseeing/Assateague Island/Jambo visit)
a trip biking from Niagara Falls, New York to Portland, Maine
(this is the 1997 section of a multi-year transcontinental bike trip)
a trip to Central America (mayan archeology/coral reef/rain forest)

We usually do anywhere from 2 to 4 major trips each year, with dozens of
smaller trips throughout the year.

I've also done many other jobs in Scouting, the usual trappings. With the
troop and post I work with about 60 boys, and 25 adult leaders. Many of
the boys in the Post are also in the Troop.

DeKalb is in northern Illinois about 60 miles west of Chicago. A lot of
cornfields out here so we have to do some traveling to see mountains,
lakes, or oceans. For the boys here, Scouting is a great opportunity.

I look forward to participating in this list. I recognize some names
here from Scouts-L so I already feel at home.

YIS, Cliff Golden
Advisor Post 333; DeKalb, Illinois
