Scouts Canada has a National Youth Committee, and a growing network of
Provincial Youth Committees; and it seems logical that someone in that
network would be interested in attending your National Explorer
Leadership Conference too. I'm an Edmonton, Alberta, Venturer Advisor,
and Assistant Provincial Commissioner for Venturers, and my predecessor
and I -- as well as members of the Provincial Venturer Resource team
(adult and youth) -- think that it's a great idea. It may be that
emulating your conference is our best course of action.
Our western Canadian colleagues might be interested in "The Ultimate
Challenge," a weeklong Venturer encampment we're running this summer at
Camp Impeesa in southern Alberta. We expect up to 600 Venturers, and plan
a week of activities from scuba to caving, mountain biking to paintball.
At this point, because of our success and the limits to our resources in
a year with a Canadian Jamboree, we are limiting numbers of out of
Alberta Venturers.
