Mark, et al,
For a while it was very "quiet" but within the last week, it is "blooming"
again. I suggested that we should get more Explorers and Venturers on the
list, since most of the dialogue has been from us more "senior" folks.
It would also be good to get web pages listed for international
Explorer/Venture units on the appropriate web page references such as
U.S. Scouting Service.. Right now, all I have seen are U.S. units
Another topic we should pursue is getting International participation in
the National Explorer Leadership Conferences and their equivalent in other
countries. Our next NELC will be in the summer of 1998, somewhere on the
East Coast. Should be an announcement out soon about specifics.
It would also be great to start talking about participation in National
and World Jamborees. Our National is coming up this summer and again it
would be great to have some Venturers on Youth Staff with Explorers.
World Jamboree will, of course, be in December 1998-January 1999 in Chile
and promises to be great fun. We sent one Explorer Post per BSA region to
WSJ-95 in Holland, and it was a great experience for them.
Our post is doing snow caves, snowshoeing/cross-country skiing today;
tomorrow they will climb the "Sawtooth" Peak next to Mt. Audubon in the
Indian Peaks Wilderness, weather permitting (looks like it will cooperate,
so far).
Best wishes..
