Help -
I am the committee chair for my son's high adventure post. The service
mission of the post has traditionally been staffing district events such as
camporee, snow campout, and cubscout daycamp. This has been working quite
smoothly over the years until now. As the number of non-boyscouts increases
in the post the support for service programs has dropped. This saturday is
the annual Klondike Derby - a district snow campout. Only 5 of the 25
members have signed up to attend and staff the event. Several of them are
going sking instead! The advisor is just livid since this has been on the
calander for 9 months. We have not been overly successful with other
service projects which the members have planned and picked either. HOW DO
YOU GET KIDS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SERVICE PART OF EXPLORING???????????????????
Since I am new at Exploring I am at a loss. I have been working with
younger Boy Scouts. They seem to enjoy the service projects which the
troop did. I would really appreciate any ideas or stories - thanks much
