Welcome and Hello

Welcome to Explorer-Net. I've spent the past few weeks working with
Paul Ratazzi to set up the new list processor. We finally finished
testing and are on-line!

Of course, in the first day of operation we hit a snag. It's fixed
now though. You should have received a welcome message almost
immediately after subscribing. Well, it just so happened that our
mail relay host had a sendmail upgrade last night! Figures. Anyway,
I had to change an option in a config file to free up the outbound
mail queue. You should have received the confirmation/welcome mail
by now. Just a little later than you should have... :)

Paul is the list owner and will be handling all the administration
of the explorer-net list. That is, bounced mail etc...

I'm the system administrator of the list server system (along with
the web servers, etc...) and hopefully will not have a lot to do with
the list maintenance. Unless someone loads another new version of
sendmail...

You may wish to take a look at http://www.rt.scouter.com/explorer-net
It's the home page and has links to view all the message traffic
in web form. Near the end of the month, we should have our search
engine on-line and web users can then search thru the archives. We'll
also have the old message traffic (Dec 94-June 96) on-line by then.

I hope the list server will be useful and operate well for the scouting
community. If anyone has any suggestions for better operation or
a neat capability we don't have, send them on to me. I promise to
consider them all.

Anyway, welcome. I appologize for the slight problem on the first day!

YiS,
Chris Marsey
